G H James Cyf. was the main Contractor responsible for the construction of the Welsh Highland Railway from Pont Bryn y Felin, Beddgelert down to Porthmadog. Throughout the several kilometres of track-bed construction, the Company demonstrated its ability to protect the local environment whilst still progressing with the work and meeting programme targets. With all of the construction work being within the Snowdonia National Park, the Company was particularly mindful of the need to preserve the natural landscape within and adjoining the work sites.
